Our services are developed by our in-house Research and Development team in association with research Institutions and universities in Greece and other European countries.  Our R&D team consists of personnel of diverse engineering backgrounds. Mechanical, marine, quality and design engineers share their expertise, experience, perspectives and ideas and help us continuously shape new innovative services.

In direct response to the last year’s global shipping industry slowdown, KIMI has launched several cost-efficient refurbishing services. One of the recent and most disruptive ones is our class-approved crankshaft repair with laser cladding. A service particularly targeted at salvaging crankshafts that would otherwise be replaced and by repairing them we enable our customers to benefit in terms of both time and cost.

After many years of dedicated research, KIMI leads the way and leaps forward by utilising the power of Artificial Intelligence to revolutionise the welding process for critical components of two-stroke internal engines such as ME Piston Crown, Exhaust valve spindles and Seats.  KIMI’s AI in welding technology reshapes the landscape by setting new standards in quality and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional reconditioning processes. By leveraging innovative AI technology, such as AI in welding, the company demonstrates its commitment to developing sustainable reconditioning solutions that aim to minimize environmental impact and prolong high-value components service life.

By analysing what is on the market, we identify customers’ evolving needs and come up with flexible, efficient and reliable solutions. KIMI invests heavily not only on acquiring technologies, equipment and personnel but also on carrying out tests, simulations and field trials in order to ensure excellence in the services launched.
