Our diesel engineers are “in action”, on board, during the overhauling of the main engine. All cylinder covers, pistons, piston rods, exhaust valves and fuel pumps were removed and taken to the workshop for overhauling and repairs. Piston crowns were fully rebuilt and the combustion surface of cylinder covers was renewed by submerged arc welding. The Piston rods were restored by Laser Cladding. All fuel pumps were fitted with new plungers made in our workshop. Fuel injectors were overhauled and adjusted. After boxing up the engine, sea trials were carried out at full speed and the engine was delivered following the makers’ specification performance values.
