In 2009, a client’s crude oil tanker of 160000DWT, suffered cross-head pins damage and bearings, after excessive water presence in lube oil. Connecting rods were also damaged. In total 4 units (connecting rods and pins) were removed from the vessel and brought into our workshop for repairs during the vessel’s stay in Piraeus Anchorage, in a fully loaded condition. The connecting rods’ ovality was restored in our heavy-duty CNC boring machine and at the same time cross-head pins were processed within our Rebuilding department where their surface was restored to their original dimensions and properties.
